This New Zealand hunt was as much about shared experience as it was about exceptional game, bringing multiple generations together across some of the country’s most spectacular landscapes. The early days were spent hunting Arapawa rams, with numerous successful stalks and exciting encounters. The rugged hills produced excellent rams, including memorable double opportunities that showcased teamwork and patience in challenging terrain. Along the way, the hunt was complemented by plenty of wallaby action, a fast-paced and demanding pursuit that tested marksmanship, and added an exciting dynamic to each day in the field. Female fallow deer were also taken, rounding out a diverse and well-balanced hunt.

While Arapawas formed the backbone of the safari, the ultimate goal for many was the legendary Himalayan tahr in the Southern Alps. Steep country, unpredictable weather, and long days made the tahr hunt the most demanding—and the most rewarding. The highlight came with the harvest of an outstanding mature bull, a true trophy and a rare achievement by New Zealand standards. Additional successful tahr hunts followed, each earned through effort, perseverance, and skilled guiding.
